We recommend starting 10-12 weeks before the event. For a full morning dress commission including waistcoat and trousers, allow 12 weeks minimum.
Can I wear a black morning coat or must it be grey?
Both are correct. Grey is more traditional for summer events. Black is equally appropriate and slightly more formal.
Can the same morning coat be worn for a wedding and for Ascot?
Yes - and it is one of the strongest arguments for commissioning rather than hiring. A well-cut morning coat in grey or black serves for weddings, Royal Ascot, and any formal daytime occasion for decades. The waistcoat is where you introduce variety: buff or dove grey for Ascot, something more personal for a wedding.
What if it rains?
